The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (do I really have to say that?) certainly don’t have a problem when it comes to spending money. Now spending it wisely, that’s a different story. Such has been an issue for the organization in recent years and it’s lead the franchise into some rather average seasons.

Hoping to change that, the Angels are apparently interested in trading for David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Rays ace has been rumored to be on the block for quite some time as the Angels’ I-5 rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers were said to have interest in trading for him last offseason. However, at the time the price tag was deemed to be too excessive and the Dodgers decided to back off. Now it’s the Angels turn though Ken Rosenthal doesn’t seem to think they have enough assets to make a deal despite the fact that the Rays are ready to make a deal for David Price ‘right now‘.

The Angels have opted to spend their money on their major league roster more than in their minor league system in recent years, which has put a damper on the type of prospects they could offer up. According to Baseball America, only Taylor Lindsey is in the top 100 MLB prospect list and that simply isn’t going to be enough for the Rays.
Add in that David Price still has an additional year on his contract and the Rays should be able to command a pretty penny for their ace starter, even if the market is somewhat saturated with other pitchers available for trade.
