For the past few months there have been conflicting reports on the status of Rajon Rondo remaining with the Boston Celtics. Some reports have suggested that Rondo continues to be a building block of the franchise while other reports have hinted that the Celtics are eager to trade their point guard.

More from Boston Celtics

During last February’s trade deadline, no player was rumored to be on the move more than Rajon Rondo and that appears to be the case today as well considering the point guard has reportedly been linked to the Sacramento Kings for the second time in as many days.

Might the Celtics trade their franchise point guard for the No. 8 pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft? Well, depending on who you ask you’ll likely get different answers. We’ve already heard about the suggestion that he could be flipped to the California capital but according to Sporting News, that might not be the case.

"But, according to a source close to the situation, Rondo has not been informed of any change of plans when it comes to the Celtics’ future, and he remains committed to helping Boston in its rebuilding efforts. “I think it is the usual BS,” the source told Sporting News."

The Celtics, barring the signing/trade of a superstar are still a few years away from competing at a high level (with or without Rajon Rondo) which has many believing Boston will attempt to trade the All-Star who only has one year remaining on his contract.

You’d have to think that where there is smoke, there’s fire, but the Celtics seem steadfast on keeping Rajon Rondo -at least right now.
