NBA rumors: Toronto Raptors say Bruno Caboclo will be on roster
By Bryan Rose
The Toronto Raptors have been known to take some risks in the NBA Draft in recent years, but their selection of Bruno Caboclo may have been the most perplexing in some time. It wasn’t that Caboclo lacked talent, it was simply that few knew who he was.

An 18-year-old out of Brazil, Bruno Caboclo is a no-doubt project but that doesn’t mean he won’t see NBA floor time this season as the Toronto Raptors appear poised to give him a roster spot this season according to general manager Masai Ujiri.
The initial plan however is to get him comfortable by playing in the Raptors upcoming Summer League while also joining some of his teammates in Los Angeles where they’re putting on a player issued workout.
“That’s the start,” Ujiri said. “That will get him some more competition, that will get him knowing his teammates and their personalities. And then there’s summer league, that’s going to be another growing experience for him because that’s going to be tough for him. He’s playing against guys that are trying to make the NBA, it’s going to be another learning experience.”
“He’s going to have a grueling summer. He’ll go back maybe to Brazil for a couple weeks break in August sometime, but the summer is going to be, he’s going to start learning.”
Even if the Raptors do use a roster spot on Bruno Caboclo at some point this season, he’s still a while away from making any type of significant impact so don’t expect to see him on the floor outside of garbage minutes.
