The Toronto Raptors can essentially say they had too much of a good thing last season as they had both Kyle Lowry and Greivis Vasques on their roster. However, both point guards are free agents (Vasquez is restricted) this offseason and there are some within the Raptors organization who believe rival NBA teams will be able to lure them away.

According to Doug Smith of The Star, there is fear both Lowry and Vasquez could be playing elsewhere come the season.

"I don’t know if any other team out there will throw that kind of cash at him but it only takes one and I know there are people in the Raptors organization that are worried someone will over-pay and Lowry won’t say no. Maybe that happens, maybe it doesn’t but I think we’ll find out sooner rather than later."

"Same goes for Vasquez, who is at least a restricted free agent which gives the Toronto Raptors some kind of control, if they want it."

Unlike Vasquez, Lowry is an unrestricted free agent and can sign where he wants. Vasquez meanwhile can sign an offer sheet with another team which would allow the Toronto Raptors to match, however, they don’t want to overpay him understandably given his rather poor defense.

For what it’s worth, Vasquez has stated a desire to be a starter, however he may get that opportunity in Toronto if Lowry is to depart.

Lowry, meanwhile, is said to be drawing interest from teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.
