San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith will not face criminal charges for his fake bomb threat case back in April, according to Bill Williamson of ESPN.

Video of the incident in question was released from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter who shared video of the incident while the airport police have released the following report, via the Sacramento Bee, about the incident.

“At approximately 1400 hrs, a 25-year-old male resident of San Jose, California, was going through Terminal 1 screening and was randomly selected for a secondary screening. The suspect then became belligerent and uncooperative with the process and with the TSA agent, making a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb before proceeding towards the gate area. Los Angeles Airport Police made contact with him at the gate and he was positively identified as the person in question. Once again the male subject became uncooperative and he was detained and taken into custody by Airport Police and is currently being transported to LAPD for booking.”

The 49ers talented, but troubled outside linebacker may still be subject to a suspension from the NFL for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy and with a number of off-the-field incidents very well could be looking at the very minimum of a one-game suspension.

Smith pleaded no contest to three felony gun charges and will face sentencing on July 25 which could determine the length of the forthcoming expected suspension.

When Smith is staying out of trouble and focused on football, there may not be a better pass-rusher in the NFL than the former Missouri standout who has 42 career sacks in 42 games.
