Last year, Grant was slated to take on then-UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson in a title bout in August. Grant was scratched from the bout with a concussion, and many speculated that the UFC may have paid him off to sit out the bout, in favor of hometown fighter and eventual champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis.
Yet a year later, Grant still hasn’t returned. He’s either really milking the injury, living well off that alleged payoff, or is actually injured. The safest bet would be with the latter
After a failed run at welterweight, Grant saw a career rebirth in the lightweight division, winning five fights in a row and being granted his ill-fated title shot. Because of the length of his hiatus, he’ll no longer be the number one lightweight title contender, as a new crop of challengers have arrived.
Good news for TJ Grant. He's finally feeling a lot better and looking to fight on the Halifax card on October 4th.

Althought he hasn’t fought since the injury, UFC Tonight said that Grant is feeling nearly 100 percent, and hopes to return to the UFC during the company’s fight card in Halifax, Novia Scotia in October.
