New Orleans Pelicans’ swingman Anthony Morrow is an unrestricted free agent and may finally be able to join a contender, something that has been discussed throughout his career.

More from Miami Heat

Two of the NBA’s elite teams, the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder, are very interested in Morrow. Each believes Morrow can help them stretch the floor and knock down shots when defenses collapse on the Heat’s big three of forward LeBron James (Morrow is reportedly a favorite of James’), guard Dwyane Wade  and big man Chris Bosh (provided they all re-sign with the Heat – each player is currently an unrestricted free agent) or the Thunder’s talented trio of 2013-2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant, point guard Russell Westbrook and big man Serge Ibaka.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Thunder currently lead the Heat in the pursuit of Morrow.

Of course, a deal does not seem close at the moment, but if the Thunder could land a shooter like Morrow and find a way to acquire Gasol, they would likely become the favorite to win the 2014-2015 NBA Title. Of course, Morrow (and Gasol for that matter) have plenty of suitors. The Pelicans would like to keep Morrow and the Portland Trail Blazers are also reportedly interested in signing Morrow. As are the Chicago Bulls.  In total,  there are reportedly at least 12 teams in pursuit of Morrow.

Morrow averaged 8.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game while shooting 45.8% from the field, 45.1% from three and 82.8% from the free throw line.
