Although the Washington Wizards have stated they want to re-sign small forward Trevor Ariza, they’re going to have their hands full as he’s been one of the most in-demand free agents available this offseason. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers have all previously expressed interest in signing Ariza and that continues to the case.

More from Dallas Mavericks

According to CBS Sports, all the aforementioned teams have maintained an interest in signing the veteran who is seeking a contract upwards of $9 to $11 million dollars per season.

That actually is somewhat of a bargain considering Luol Deng, who many would say is comparable is seeking a contract that would pay him at least $12 million per year.

Of course, signing Trevor Ariza might be a problem for some of the teams as the Miami Heat don’t have the available funds, assuming they retain all the members of their ‘Big 3’. As for the Lakers, they have the cap room to make such a deal though only if they strike out on LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony. Then at that point you have to wonder if using a significant portion of your cap space on Ariza is worth it.

The Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers both have the money to sign Trevor Ariza outright, though they’ve both set their eyes on bigger prizes currently and Ariza (although talented) might be a bit of a disappointment for fans who were seeking more.

Still, as one of the best available small forwards in free agency, Ariza should make some fan base very happy once the season does eventually kick off.
