It’s one of the most heart-stopping videos you’ll see all day. Two planes nearly colliding on a runway at a Barcelona airport in Spain.

The incident occurred on Saturday, and it involves a Boeing 767 from Russian airline UTair attempting to land at Barcelona’s El Prat Airport. As the plane descends from the sky, an Aerolineas Argentineas Airbus A340 begins to taxi across the runway, forcing the pilot of the UTair plane to quickly ascend back into the sky.

Shortly after circling around, the Boeing 767 safely landed at the airport.

In a comment to the Telegraph, the man who originally filmed the video called the moment of near collision, “one of the worst experiences I have ever had”.

It’s unclear just how close the two planes came to hitting each other. However, even the idea that it was possible means the planes were too close for comfort in the first place.

Mike’s Musings: This video is one of those instances where I couldn’t stop myself from asking “what if?” after watching it. Imagine being a passenger on the plane on the runway, and seeing this giant jet lowering and coming closer to you. What would you do? Luckily, the pilot of the incoming plane was able to react in time to ascend the plane back into the air before anything major happened. Still, someone has to be losing their job for this mishap.
