The Boston Red Sox have struggled this season and given that, it’s expected by many that they could be sellers come the Major League Baseball trade deadline. One such player who has drawn a significant amount of interest is starting pitcher Jake Peavy who the Red Sox appear willing to move.

Rumors of the St. Louis Cardinals interest has already been documented but they aren’t the only team in pursuit as according to Jen Royle, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim may be pondering a move for Jake Peavy.

The Angels have been playing extremely well as of late and seem to be keeping pace with the division leading Oakland A’s, but may be pressed to make a move after their neighbor to the north traded for Jeff Samardjiza.

There hasn’t been any talk of what would be going back to the Red Sox in such a trade scenario though Boston may just be happy getting rid of his salary.

A former Cy Young award winner, Jake Peavy enjoyed massive success as a member of the San Diego Padres but struggled to live up to his expectations after he was traded to the Chicago White Sox and eventually the Boston Red Sox.

It’s doubtful that he’d find the change of scenery a big help to his game as he continues to give up the home run ball far too much, but the Angels improved lineup may be able to give him a better chance to improve his winning percentage.
