Although the Phoenix Suns have allegedly expressed interest in Greg Monroe, the Detroit Pistons apparently aren’t interested in helping move him out of Motown. While sign-and-trade scenarios have allegedly been discussed with other teams, it appears as if the Pistons are simply performing their due diligence.

More from Detroit Pistons

A restricted free agent, Greg Monroe has yet to sign an offer sheet and it’s believed teams are scared to present such to the former Georgetown product as they fear the Pistons will match the contract.

It’s an understandable stance considering the Detroit Pistons have hinted they prefer to keep their big man, a sentiment Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders seems to echo.

Of course, Monroe himself has been rather quiet during free agency and hasn’t exactly went out of his way to suggest he wants to remain with the Detroit Pistons moving forward. There hasn’t been any news of potential money and/or years offered to Monroe or even if the Pistons have made him an offer, though it is a little strange he hasn’t signed.

The most likely scenario is the Detroit Pistons are waiting for the market to set itself with Greg Monroe much like the Phoenix Suns are doing with Eric Bledsoe, though the Suns have reportedly made an offer to Bledsoe (which he wasn’t interested in).

It’s hard to think the Pistons would be okay losing Greg Monroe for nothing though, so it seems likely that either he will be signed-and-traded or Detroit will match whatever contract offer he is presented.

Monroe could also sign a one-year tender offer with the Pistons and become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2014-15 season.
