Bryce Petty on Baylor picked second in Big 12: It’s up to us to play, not vote
By Jack Crosby
In the recent Big 12 media poll, the Oklahoma Sooners were chosen as the favorites, while the defending champions, the Baylor Bears, were chosen as second. Of course this rubbed people the wrong way, especially since the Bears have one of the better quarterbacks in the country returning this season in Bryce Petty.

Well, when asked about his team being chosen behind Oklahoma, Petty didn’t seemed all to concerned about it, although he did hint that he and his teammates will go and show they’re the best in the conference on the field, where it matters the most when all is said and done.
“That’s not up to us to vote, it’s up to us to play,” Petty said. “That tells us that we’re not there yet, and that’s fine with me. I don’t think you’re ever there. Once you think you’ve arrived, that’s when you’re in trouble.”
Of course, while people will use the argument that the Bears defeated the Sooners last season and won the conference, Oklahoma left the better lasting impression on people.
In the Fiesta Bowl, Baylor had it handed to them by UCF, while the Sooners walked into the Sugar Bowl and probably put on one of the more memorable performances of the bowl season by destroying Alabama from start to finish.
