The Kansas City Royals are in on a few different trade rumors as the deadline to make a deal nears, and that’s something that is noteworthy in that the lowly Royals are finally in a position to be buyers at the deadline in an effort to make a postseason push.

More from Kansas City Royals

Ever since Monday, the Royals name has come up more and more frequently and that’s something that is being taken notice of by teams looking to move trade chips and acquire assets.

According Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, there interest from the Kansas City Royals in both A.J Burnett from the Pirates and Bartolo Colon from the New York Mets.

"A new possibility has emerged for the Mets’ Bartolo Colon, although it remains to be seen how serious it is. According to major league sources, the Kansas City Royals are considering making a run at one of Monday night’s starters in New York, Colon or Philadelphia’s A.J. Burnett."

This is starting to become something to watch — not these trades in particular but the fact that the Royals are suddenly becoming players in the 11th hour.

With just a day to go until the deadline passes, the Royals are storming out of nowhere to be rumored alongside names like David Price, Jon Lester, John Lackey and now bot Colon and Burnett. That doesn’t mean trades will get done but it shows that the Royals are at least being aggressive.
