Fantasy Baseball Stats: Daily All-Stars from August 2

While nobody quite followed up on the brilliant performance that Tommy Medica had on Friday night, Saturday was dominated by the hitters, who swept all four spots today’s fantasy baseball stats recap.
Actually, four hitters provided across the board contributions, hitting a home run and recording a stolen base. Unfortunately, J.D. Martinez didn’t quite do enough, only going 1/4. The three other across the board contributors made today’s list, including the man that we start with.

Chris Carter — Houston Astros

Not exactly a typical source for stolen bases, right? Carter actually had a very nice month of July. The power is always there, but the .289 average through the month is definitely a bonus. Fortunately, he seems to be on a similar track in August.
The power will always be there for Carter and while I doubt he’s going to turn into a batting champion, he can potentially turn in to a very nice fantasy player if he can hit consistently above about .230. Right now he’s red hot and quite possibly available, so I’d give him a very strong look.

1. Anthony Rendon — Washington Nationals

Another nice game from a youngster having a truly tremendous season. Rendon couldn’t really do any more for his fantasy owners (or the Nationals) than this. Much like the entire Phillies team, A.J. Burnett has certainly had better days. While Rendon wasn’t the only reason for it on Saturday, he certainly contributed.
He’s only 24 and developing as a star in front of our eyes. After Saturday’s game, Rendon is on pace for well more than 100 runs, better than 90 RBI, 21 steals, and nearly 20 steals. That’s production.
2. Kolten Wong — St. Louis Cardinals

Another promising youngster, although nowhere near as consistent as Rendon. Not yet, anyway.
Still, these are the kind of games that make the Cardinals and fantasy owners alike salivate over him. Like the rest of his Cardinals teammates, Wong has not had enough of these games this year. But if the St. Louis bats can heat up, I think we’ll be seeing him a few more times.
3. Josh Harrison — Pittsburgh Pirates

Harrison was due. After all, he had gone two whole games without hitting a home run. In all seriousness, the Pirates were definitely on their games on Saturday in Arizona, helping Harrison have himself a nice day.
He’s been on fire over the last seven games. Not only has Harrison hit safely in all of them, but he’s batting .452 with 11 runs scored, five homers, seven RBI, and two steals. It’s a good time to have him on a fantasy team.
