There’s no doubt the Philadelphia 76ers are ‘rebuilding’ their franchise, but in doing so they’re going about it in a full-on tank mode. They certainly don’t seem to mind being one of the worst teams in NBA history, though the same can’t be said for the league office and fellow teams around the league.

More from NBA

Almost celebrating their 19-63 season, the Philadelphia 76ers front office apparently rubbed some the wrong way and according to Philly.com there is growing animosity in regards to how the Philadelphia 76ers are doing things regarding their unconventional rebuild.

"In other words, there was way too much talk about tanking to suit the commissioner, and one league executive told The Inquirer’s Keith Pompey that the Sixers were having a “negative effect on the integrity of the NBA.” Plus, people didn’t like the general merriment that has accompanied the process. So, the Sixers are probably getting slapped down a little bit when the league’s board of governors considers another tweak to the draft lottery system in October."

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has previously stated a desire to change the draft lottery and is thinking of making such alterations that would impact the 2015 draft, something the Sixers are relying on. That of course upset the Philadelphia 76ers front office and the two sides are in a bit of a heated battle over the proposed changes that would give multiple teams the same odds to win the lotto.

It remains to be seen how fellow front offices will interact with the Philadelphia 76ers, though despite their irritation, I’m guessing that won’t impact any potential moves between said clubs.
