This is Denbrock’s second stint as offensive coordinator under Kelly, previously serving in that position at Grand Valley State from 1992-95.
The 50-year-old started in coaching under Kelly as a graduate assistant at Grand Valley in 1986-87 and held a graduate assistant position at Michigan State from 1988-89.
After a stint as Illinois’ offensive line and tight ends coach from 1990-91 he returned to Grand Valley State in 1992.
In 1996, Dembrock made the rare conversion from offensive coordinator to defensive coordinator at Grand Valley, serving on the defensive side until 1998.
After two years as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Destroyers of the Arena Football League, he returned to the college ranks with Stanford (offensive tackles/tight ends) in 2001.
Since then, he was offensive tackles/tight ends coach at Notre Dame from 2002-04, offensive line coach at Washington from 2005-08 and assistant head coach at Indiana State in 2009 before returning to Notre Dame in 2010, when Kelly took the job as head coach.
