The Golden State Warriors at one point seemed to be the favorite to land disgruntled Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Love in a trade. However, an alleged reluctance to include Klay Thompson in such a deal appeared to be one of the major roadblocks.

More from Golden State Warriors

Golden State’s desire to keep Thompson allowed the Cleveland Cavaliers to hop into the mix and it’s been said the Cavs and T’Wolves have a handshake agreement in place for a deal once Andrew Wiggins’ contract becomes tradeable. However, Sam Amico of Fox Sports says it’s believable to think that the Golden State Warriors could attempt to restart Kevin Love trade talks.

"I think they (Golden State Warriors) can still hop back in. But would you rather have Wiggins or Thompson if you’re the Wolves? I think they’d still go with Wiggins. But I don’t know that for sure."

As Amico states, if the decision comes down to either trading for Andrew Wiggins or Klay Thompson, it seems like a rather easy choice to make. Or is it?

Throughout the offseason the Timberwolves front office has maintained a desire to trade Kevin Love for ‘NBA ready’ players. Talented as Andrew Wiggins is, he still might be a season or two away from being a reliable player. Strange as it may sound, Klay Thompson is the proven talent between the two and sometimes going the safer route is what NBA front offices prefer to do.

Still, at the end of the day it seems difficult to believe that any offer currently out there would top a return of Andrew Wiggins and additional assets.
