With the NBA Draft behind us and training camp just around the corner, one may have assumed that Rajon Rondo trade talk would eventually die down. But that isn’t looking to be the case as trade rumors continue to swirl around the Boston Celtics point guard.

More from Boston Celtics

Over the past few weeks interest in Rajon Rondo has been well documented and the Sacramento Kings were said to be engaging the Celtics around the draft in effort to acquire the former Kentucky product. However, as has been the case for a few years now, the Boston Celtics continue to keep Rajon Rondo on their roster and avoid any franchise altering move.

Might that be coming to an end though? It’s possible if the Boston Celtics can hold out for a massive return considering there are multiple teams who are wanting to trade for Rajon Rondo.

"They are obviously hearing from a number of teams on the Rajon Rondo front, but there was not a sense that Boston was ready to do anything with Rondo and that their first choice would be to keep him long-term."

While Boston has suggested they want to keep Rondo, if he doesn’t suggest that he wants to remain in Beantown or sign an extension, you have to think the Celtics will at least put him on the block and see what type of return they’d be able to get. A free agent at season end, Boston simply can’t risk Rondo walking for no return so they’ll have a difficult choice to make in the upcoming months.
