Warriors’ Klay Thompson says trade rumors didn’t bother him
By Bryan Rose
On Friday afternoon, Klay Thompson’s father suggested that his son was none too happy with the Golden State Warriors organization after they discussed him in a trade for Kevin Love.

Golden State never completed the move and speculation was that they preferred to keep Klay Thompson in the Bay Area, but nobody wants to hear their name in trade talks. Given that, there was understandable concern that the young guard would be irritated moving forward though Thompson says the trade rumors didn’t really bother him much.
“I’ve been in rumors before. It didn’t really bother me that much,” Thompson said. “If it did go down, I would have been disappointed. It was more like a feeling of ‘I hope they don’t trade me.’ But I wouldn’t have been mad at them. I understand it’s a business. We get paid to pack our bags and go do work.”
Considering Kevin Love is now a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Klay no longer needs to worry about being shipped out so it’s difficult to know if he’s being truthful or simply being a company man and saying the correct things.
Given his father spoke out and suggested Klay was not pleased, you have to think it’s a bit of damage control on Klay’s part as he doesn’t want to be dealing with the situation for the remainder of the season.
Klay Thompson is also up for a potential contract extension, so he understandably doesn’t want to come off as a difficult personality to deal with, thus the attempt to calm the waters.
