While Kenneth Faried has suggested he’s open to remaining with the Denver Nuggets once his contract comes to an end, he wants to do so on a max-level deal.

More from NBA

Understandably such a sentiment is a concern of the Nuggets (who obviously don’t want to pay such an elevated number) and there were rumors hinting the Nuggets were shopping Kenneth Faried this past February during the NBA’s trade deadline. One team said to be interested in acquiring Faried were the New York Knicks though no deal was ever completed.

Was the noise true? Were the New York Knicks attempting to trade for the athletic power forward? They certainly were according to Steve Kyler who says the Knicks tried to acquire Kenneth Faried ‘a lot’.

It was a smart move on the part of the Knicks, especially if the Denver Nuggets were honestly looking to move Faried.

Discussions over a long-term contract have reportedly been held by the Nuggets and Faried and it appears as if the two are closer to a potential extension, though by no stretch is it a done deal. That said, it seems unlikely the Denver Nuggets will be looking to trade Faried at this point unless the talks break down.

‘The Manimal’ as he’s often referred to is set to become a restricted free agent (barring a contract extension) while the New York Knicks are expected to have a significant amount of cap space come season end.
