When the news broke that Ray Rice was suspended indefinitely by the NFL and released by the Baltimore Ravens, many wondered whether Ravens legend Ray Lewis would comment on it.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Lewis doesn’t exactly have a clean past (he was accused of murder in 2000), so it was certainly fair to wonder whether it was smart for Lewis, who is analyst on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, to comment on his former teammate’s situation.

Well, Countdown has come and Lewis did, in fact, speak on the matter, saying he will talk with Rice soon among other things.

Lewis also spoke about his past and tried to distance it from the Rice situation. Though, some were unwilling to let Lewis off of the hook that easy.

Lewis retired after winning Super Bowl XLVII with Baltimore and began work with ESPN in 2013.
