We finally got NFL football back and, as expected, it was filled with awesome.

Part of that awesome were the things we didn’t see coming even a little bit. The NFL is nothing if not filled with unexpected events and Week 1 of the 2014 season was no different than usual. We had some surprising upsets, some near-upsets which were equally shocking, some great performances and some teams and players who performed well below expectations.

In some cases—below expectations that really weren’t that high.
