Last week news broke suggesting that Andre Ellington was likely to miss four-to-six weeks with a toe injury, something that has plagued his career thus far. However, Ellington went through a limited practice on Saturday and was shockingly said to be a game time decision.
That lead to Andre Ellington being given the starting running back nod on Monday night and while there was a small lip at times, no setbacks occurred. Still, rather sore and wanting to be overly cautious the team placed Ellington in a walking boot after the game.

The fact Andre Ellington was able to make it through the entire game and didn’t suffer any setbacks should be viewed as good news for his Week 2 status. Ellington and the Cardinals will also have the benefit of an early bye week as they’ll have Week 4 off.
For now the Cardinals will likely take a rather cautious approach with Ellington and if he does show any signs of injury, they’ll likely have the quick hook. For now though, the explosive running back looks primed and ready for his Week 2 contest.
It’s a pretty big reversal of fortune considering many expected Arizona to be without their starting running back through the first third of the season.
