Being a Chicago Cubs fan is not easy, though, it appears things are finally starting to turn the corner.

With Javier Baez, Jorge Soler and Addison Russell within the system (Baez and Soler at the Major League level currently), the Chicago Cubs have a potent offense brewing. That doesn’t even include third baseman Kris Bryant who was named the 2014 Minor League Player of the Year on Tuesday afternoon.
Bryant, who is knocking (more like smashing) on the door of being promoted to the Chicago Cubs was nothing short of phenomenal this season where he smashed 43 home runs and hammered out 78 extra-base hits. On top of that, the hot corner prospect had a slugging percentage of .661 while hitting .325 and posting the second highest on base percentage in Minor League Baseball.
"Bryant’s exceptional season made him an easy choice as Baseball America’s 2014 Minor League Player of the Year. He joins Alex Gordon as the second player ever to win the College and the Minor League POY awards in consecutive years."
While the inclusion with Alex Gordon isn’t anything special (as Kansas City Royals fans can attest), Kris Bryant joins a collection of All-Star level talent like Mike Trout, Wil Myers, Jason Heyward, Jay Bruce, Jeremy Hellickson and Matt Wieters who’ve all won the honor in recent years.
There’s really no reason for Kris Bryant to prove himself in the minor’s any longer, so expect to see the powerful third baseman (who could be moved to the outfield) at the Major League level next season.
