With week one of the NFL season in the books, it’s time for fantasy owners to get to work improving their team for the rest of the season. Win or lose week one, the main way to improve your roster in-season is to be active on your league’s waiver wire.

More from Atlanta Falcons

Every year there are players that emerge from the wire to be solid contributors or even stars, so make sure you know your league’s procedures for adding unowned players and are ready to pounce when the opportunity is right.  To help you target the right players, each Tuesday at Fansided you can find the top ten pickups and throughout the rest of the week positional focuses and start/sit advice. Check it all out by bookmarking our fantasy football page.

For the purposes of this post, the list will only include players who are available in over half of ESPN leagues.  If there is someone else who you think may deserve picking up, feel free to ask my opinion in the comments or ask me @ZT_Sports on twitter. All references to points are baed on ESPN standard scoring unless otherwise noted just so we have a common benchmark for comparison.  The percentages included after the players team is their ownership percentage as of Monday.

To help as many owners as possible, I’ll include at least one player from each primary position-QB, RB, WR, TE, and team defense.  The order in which they are listed is a general guideline, but what your team needs are should drive what you’re looking for on the waiver wire.
