On Tuesday, Apple is holding a major press conference to announce a number of new products including the potential iOS 8 release date and time.
UPDATE: iOS 8 will be available on Sept. 17. The iPhone 6 will release on Sept. 19.

iOS 8 was not ready earlier this summer, but it is expected to be ready to debut for today’s big event. Developers could get their hands on the operating system later in the day with a release to the public the following week if the timeline is similar to last year’s iOS 7 release.
This update, however, will not be as drastic as the iOS 7 update was when we got a complete makeover to the look.
One of the biggest upgrades for iOS 8 will be the addition of multi-tasking which has been a major plus for the larger screened Samsung we have seen in the past. The fact that Apple will also unveil a larger iPhone at the event will give the device the screen size it needs for the multi-tasking to work properly.
But all of that has already been discussed.
The major point will be that iOS 8 will likely be available to the public next week.
Once the update is available, you can make the changes directly on your phone or by plugging in to iTunes and updating from there. If the iOS 8 update is not available whenever you plug in to iTunes, make sure that your iTunes software is updated.
