The Dallas Cowboys wanted to work out a deal with the wide receiver Dez Bryant, who is in the final year of his deal, before the start of the season. Well the season has begun and Bryant still is without a new deal and headed towards free agency.

When asked about the status of talks, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said it wasn’t a priority at the moment.

“We are certainly concentrating on several other things,” Jones said in an interview with 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning, via the team’s website. “That’s there – that’s not hard to be thinking about as we move along through the season, but I really don’t think that it’s a priority, a daily priority, as opposed to getting ready to play in Nashville or getting ready to play a football game in the season.”

Well Jones certainly has his hands and legal team full dealing with another issue. Focusing on winning should be a priority for the Cowboys as a whole anyways.

Jones has previously said that he wasn’t worried about the contract because he could always slap Dez Bryant with the franchise tag to prevent him from leaving if a deal couldn’t be worked out beforehand.
