Report: Washington Redskins hope Robert Griffin III will only miss ‘four or five’ weeks

The Washington Redskins won with authority over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon. That win was tainted somewhat, however, by the fact that Washington lost quarterback Robert Griffin III to a dislocated ankle.

That sounds like the kind of injury that will end RGIII‘s season, but according to Pro Football Talk, the team is still hoping that they will have their franchise quarterback on the field this season. More specifically, the Redskins are reportedly hoping to have RGIII back in ‘four or five weeks.’

Ambitious, is the word you are looking for when trying to understand that timetable from the Washington front office.

Here is what Mike Florio writes in his report about the situation:

"Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III dislocated his ankle on Sunday against the Jaguars. On Monday, more will be known about how much time he’ll miss.Per a league source, an MRI will be conducted tomorrow. The current hope is that Griffin will miss only four or five weeks."

We wear many hats at FanSided, but being a doctor is not one of them. That said, I feel confident in speaking for the staff here when I say that we expect RGIII to be out for the season after suffering this injury.

To believe that an NFL quarterback could be back on the field in a month after dislocating his ankle seems unrealistic at best and clueless at its worst. But what would we know? Here is what an actual doctor said:
