Although the Cleveland Cavaliers currently have Brendan Haywood on their roster, nobody knows just how healthy the veteran will be this season.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Add in that Haywood comes with a $10 million dollar expiring contract and it’s very possible the center will be used as trade bait. Given that, the Cavaliers are in desperate need to find themselves a ‘rim protector’. Only problem? Those are few and far between. Those who have such don’t want to give them up and aren’t going to do so unless a team is willing to overpay. In terms of finding one in the free agent market? That seems unlikely, though the Cleveland Cavaliers are testing the waters and have recently worked out Louis Amundson.

Granted, Amundson isn’t exactly a true ‘rim protector’ though his game is built off an energetic pace and could prove to be a solid addition off the Cavaliers bench.

Most recently, Louis Amundson played for the Chicago Bulls though the former UNLV product is well traveled, suiting up for eight different franchises throughout his career. If the Cleveland Cavaliers were to sign him, it would be his first time with the organization.

Amundson has never been anything more than a ‘glue’ player on his best day and hasn’t averaged over 15 minutes per game since the 2010-11 season when he was a member of the Golden State Warriors. Though for an end of the bench talent, you can’t do much better.
