FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher drops Forrest Gump reference in presser
Movies and sports are two of America’s greatest pleasures and provide countless hours of entertainment, so when Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher dropped a line from one of the greatest movies of all-time on Monday, it brought a smile to my face.

Fisher met with the media to discuss how you aren’t quite sure what to make of a team based on what you see in their first game and used a line from Forrest Gump to explain his point.
"“First games, as I say, Forrest Gump,” Fisher said. “It’s like a box of chocolates, you don’t ever know what you’re going to get. Even when you think you know what kind of chocolate it is.”"
The Seminoles sneaked past the Oklahoma State Cowboys in their Week 1 win when they were an onside kick recovery away from a potential upset to start their defense of their national championship, but managed to hold on for the 37-31.
Jameis Winston threw a pair of interceptions as the Heisman winner completed 25-of-40 passes for 370 yards and a touchdown, but made two uncharacteristic mistakes with the football.
The defense did not look like the dominating unit that was the best in college football last year either as the inexperienced Cowboys team was able to move the ball and get in the end zone, although not enough to pull off the upset.
Nevertheless, Fisher’s point remains that you can’t make sweeping declarations and make too many conclusions based on 60 minutes of football.
However, a game against the Clemson Tigers on Saturday will be a bit more telling.
