It appears famed amusement park Cedar Point has decided to back off their stance of naming one of their well known roller coasters after Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

During James’ free agency, when he was decided between re-signing with the Miami Heat or returning home to the Cavs, Cedar Point suggested they would name a roller coaster after the NBA superstar if he was to sign in Ohio. Alas, LeBron James did indeed sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the amusement part was now on the hook to change the name of a coaster.

However, Cedar Point has decided against such as noted by The Detroit News.

"Ohio’s Cedar Point amusement park is partnering with the LeBron James Family Foundation instead of renaming a roller coaster for the basketball superstar. The Sandusky park had vowed to rename a coaster “King James” if the four-time NBA MVP returned home to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, which he did."

Which exactly the amusement park has decided to opt against such is currently not known, though, it would have been pretty bad ass to have a roller coaster named after you.

The new coaster, which is set to debut next spring, will have a ‘ride first auction’ where proceeds will benefit James’ Family Foundation charity. The Cleveland Cavaliers star has routinely talked about the park as one of his favorite places, stating he often visited during his younger years.
