Derek Jeter debunks ‘gift basket’ rumors
Sorry, ladies.
In a recent interview with New York Magazine, baseball legend Derek Jeter finally spoke out about the outrageous rumor that began circulating in 2011 about how he gave out gift baskets for going on dates with him.

According to the rumors, any girl lucky enough to spend the night with Jeter would be escorted to an awaiting car in the morning with a sports-memorabilia packed gift basket. This same rumor suggested that the shenanigans first came to light when Jeter accidentally gave the same girl the same basket twice, forgetting she already had one.
According to the Yankees star, who is finishing up his final season playing major league ball, the rumor is outrageous. He claims that he has no idea who would give girls a basket full of “signed baseballs and pictures of [themselves]”.
Uh, clearly he’s never met Tyler Seguin?
I’m a little bit upset that this has come out to all be a big hoax. Not necessarily because I’m looking to receive a gift basket full of signed pictures post-one-night-stand, but because now I don’t have any insane claim to make about Jeter. Bleacher Report suggests that this means that he’s just a super-bored, super-rich celebrity with an insanely private personal life because… he likes his privacy.
All joking aside, though, it’s nice to see a multi-millionaire athlete stay classy through it all. Happy Derek Jeter day, everyone.
