the San Diego Chargers are right there in the thick of things at the top of the AFC but they’re losing despite all of the winning. While the team is 2-1 and in a prime position to make a run in the conference, they lost running back Danny Woodhead on Sunday and need to replace him somehow.

With Woodhead on IR with a broken fibula, the Chargers must now go out and find a third running back to add to their bunch as both Ryan Mathews and Donald Brown are injury risks in their own right. In fact, Mathews is out for the next few weeks with an MCL sprain which means it could be a big name that that Chargers add.

Among the names on the open market that make sense are BenJarvus Green-Ellis and LaMichael James but anyone is possible at this juncture. The Chargers had interest in Marion Gracie but he was signed off the practice squad by the Arizona Cardinals, who are dealing with running back problems of their own.

It’s unclear who the Chargers will go with, but they need a running back and will likely find one before the middle of the week.
