You’ll never guess the name of the odds-on favorite to win the Hart trophy for the NHL MVP in the upcoming season. It’s this guy who plays in Pittsburgh named Sidney Crosby? Hmm, well if you’ve heard of him, let him know he’s running away with the preseason MVP favorite award. Should he make some oddsmakers rich, it would Crosby’s second straight MVP award.

Online oddsmaker Bovada released their betting lines for NHL MVP and reigning Hart-trophy winner Crosby was tops with 7/4 odds. Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf and Tampa Bay Lightning’s Steven Stamkos rounded out the top three with 6/1 odds for each. Crosby was also an even 1/1 bet to win the Art Ross trophy for most points score.

If you’re in an area where it’s legal to place such bets, it would probably not be a bad look to go against the grain and bet on someone like Getzlaf, who is a 20/1 bet for the Art Ross. Given that Getz was second in the league in scoring last year, it’s hard to imagine he’s not a Crosby injury away from being way more likely than that to accrue point totals.
