This past Saturday in Tuscaloosa, the Alabama Crimson Tide had their way with the Florida Gators, 42-21. Aside from the fact that the Florida defense was abysmal, senior quarterback Jeff Driskel had yet another bad outing, completing just 9-of-28 passes for 93 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

As expected, Driskel’s performance drew the ire of Florida fans, especially the alumni. One of the more famous of the football alumni, Emmitt Smith, went right to his twitter account on Saturday to not only voice his displeasure, but express that he would like to see Will Muschamp put him right on the bench.

The tweet has since been deleted, though, and Smith has even apologized for lashing out in public against his alma mater like that.

During his teleconference on Wednesday, Muschamp noted that Smith has since reached out to him personally to express his regret over the act.

While it was not the best decision for Smith to publicly call for the senior quarterback to take a seat, it showed a lot of class to reach out to the head coach of his former team and apologize.

But, the fact remains that if Driskel plays anywhere near the way that he did on Saturday, it might not be long before we see him on the bench.
