4-star defensive end Michael Barnett gave Georgia coach Mark Richt a nice surprise this morning when he flipped his commitment from Florida State to the Georgia Bulldogs. Barnett had been verbally committed to the Seminoles for three months now and gave everyone a shock when he announced his commitment to the Bulldogs this morning. Barnett had a commitment ceremony today and cited personal family relationships that he has in Georgia as his reason for changing his mind.

Barnett is a 6’5 259 pound defensive end that has garnered national attention as a top ranked recruit ever since he started high school. He is the eleventh ranked player at his position in the class and will add depth to an already stacked defensive front at Georgia and makes the defensive line one of the best in the SEC in the years to come.

This isn’t the first time Barnett has flip flopped on a commitment to a university. Until this February he was committed to play at Virginia before exploring other options. After that he quickly developed a relationship with the Seminoles and it was a foregone conclusion that he would end up at Florida State.  If Barnett does choose to open up his recruitment again, he holds offers from Alabama, LSU and Notre Dame.
