Detroit Lions Pro Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford was late to practice this morning after he was stranded during his commute after a bridge collapsed on the highway en route to the Lions facility.

Apparently Stafford was one of the first cars on the scene, and was unable to get to practice on time. Ultimately, Stafford made it to the facility safely, but he was nearly joined by his head coach in being stranded on the highway just 15 minutes earlier.

If Caldwell had been stuck with Stafford at least they could have put some work in game-planning for the Jets this Sunday.

Anyhow, the good news is that only one minor injury was reported from the collapse, which could have been a lot worse.

Now the attention will shift to the New York Jets, as the Lions travel to New Jersey to take on the Gang Green this Sunday. With Stafford helping the Lions improve to 2-1, he hopes to hand the Jets their third loss in a row as the Lions look to win their second straight game.
