Dana White says Conor McGregor gets no preferential treatment
Although UFC 178 is headlined by the flyweight title fight between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Chris “Kamikaze” Cariaso, much of the excitement and anticipation is focused on the featherweight feature bout between Irish superstar Conor McGregor, and No. 5 ranked contender Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier.

McGregor gets his first major test inside the Octagon, and with a win tonight could potentially be fighting for a UFC title next. To add to the anticipation, McGregor and Poirier have been jawing back and forth throughout fight week, and is seems that they are going to put on a show.
Poirier is representing the entire featherweight division tonight, much of whom are sick and tired of hearing McGregor run his mouth while beating nobody of worth yet inside the Octagon.
Some even believe that McGregor is being given preferential treatment by the UFC, as he is given a suite, always dressed in top-class suits, and was given a UFC main event in only his third fight with the organization.
UFC president Dana White caught wind of these accusations, and put them to bed during the UFC 178 media day earlier this week.
“Conor McGregor is one of these guys that – he did a $1.4 million gate in Ireland. He has that star potential,” White told MMAjunkie earlier this week. “We don’t treat Conor any different than we’ve everybody in this f-cking organization. From Ronda (Rousey) to Rashad (Evans) to Chuck Liddell – everybody’s been treated fairly here.”
While Dana is adamant that McGregor is being treated the same as everyone else, it is quite evident that McGregor is being treated differently than just any regular featherweight making his fourth UFC appearance.
Something is special with Conor, the UFC sees it, the fans and pundits see it, but will Dustin Poirier end the hype train tonight? We will find out in just a few hours.
