Good news Marlins fans. According to CBS Sports, Mike Redmond is coming back. The manager who has been at Miami’s helm for 2 seasons thus far, and has gone 139-184 entering play today. The team has won 77 games this year, the most since they had 80 victories in 2010.

Perhaps even better news is that it could be a sign of things to come for another key piece of a possible Marlins renaissance. With Redmond, a member of the 2003 Marlins World Series championship team, secured for the next 3 seasons, the team could be on the verge of restructuring the deal of their biggest asset, Giancarlo Stanton.

As previously mentioned, the powerful Miami slugger is soon to be in the midst of contraction discussions regarding a possible extension for after the 2015 season. The team has an up and coming young core that has shown it is capable of contending in the wide open National League Eastern division. Up until a few weeks ago, Miami was still in contention for the final wild card spot the NL.

For now, those within the organization can rest a little easier, especially Redmond himself. He has deep ties with the Marlins franchise and it was very clear this year he has a plan to turn this team around. It would appear, for now, that he still has a chance to do so.
