The New York Jets signed Michael Vick in the offseason to provide competition for second-year quarterback Geno Smith and push him to realize his potential after the team selected him in the second round of the draft in 2013.

Smith beat out Vick for the starting job as many had expected in the preseason, but that does not appear that Jets head coach Rex Ryan is regretting that decision to ride with Smith over the veteran Vick.

After Smith committed two more turnovers in the 24-17 loss vs. the Detroit Lions to drop their second home game in six days, you couldn’t blame Ryan for making a change at quarterback considering Smith now has seven turnovers for the 1-3 Jets.

However, barring injury, Ryan said after the game that Smith will be the starter in Week 5 against the San Diego Chargers.

Ryan remains confident in Smith and is not ready to pull the plug on him as a starter, but what do you think, should Ryan bench Smith for Vick or should he stay the course with Geno?
