Kentucky football suspends 4 players connected to pellet gun scare

The University of Kentucky football program suspended four players on Monday in the wake of an incident with a pellet gun that led police to lock the Lexington, Ky., campus down late Sunday night.
According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, four freshmen—wide receiver Dorian Baker, running back Stanley “Boom” Williams, quarterback Drew Barker and defensive end Tymere Dubose will not play or dress for Saturday night’s game against South Carolina.

Citing a UK news release, the newspaper also reported the quartet will face “additional internal discipline for violation of team rules in relation to an incident on campus Sunday evening.”
University police chief Joe Monroe said Monday that three “BB guns” connected with the incident were recovered during the investigation and that all involved—who were caught on security cameras—were interviewed.
UK police will meet with the Fayette County Attorney’s office on Tuesday to determine if criminal action is warranted.
University police received a call at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday reporting possible shots fired outside the Kirwan-Blanding residence hall complex on the South Campus of the school, near the football practice facility.
UK police, in conjunction with Lexington Police Department officers, advised residents to stay in their rooms while an investigation and search took place.
The all clear was given shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Barker and Dubose are expected to redshirt this season, but Baker is fourth on the team with 11 receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown and Williams has 174 yards on 21 offensive touches and has scored twice.
Given the master criminal genius at work in this incident, the notation next to the four players on Saturday’s roster could just as well read: “Suspended: LOL.”
