AL East the kings of winning percentage in MLB

The American League East is known as one of the best divisions in baseball on a consistent, year-by-year basis. The division had an off year this season, and despite the struggles, the AL East still managed to have a better win percentage than any other division in baseball.

More from Boston Red Sox

Coming off of a World series run, the Boston Red Sox had a disappointing season. The Rays struggled this year as well. The Blue Jays had their moments, but in the end they finished third in the division behind the Yankees, who couldn’t make one last postseason run for Derek Jeter.

Aside from the Baltimore Orioles, all other teams in this division had down seasons. That just goes to show how good of a division the AL East is, even amidst a down season, they still managed to have a better season as a whole compared to all of the other divisions.

Next season, the division will look much different without Derek Jeter being on the Yankees. The Orioles are the new team to beat in the division and they are looking to represent the division in a positive way in the postseason. Next season, look for the Red Sox, Rays and Yankees to look for redemption against the Orioles.
