This is enough time to get a feel for how players are fitting into their team’s rotation, and how players being used this season. That makes this a great time to determine the best and worst NFL free agent values from last offseason.
Around the league, there were far too many contracts that already appear to have provided very poor value. This is often the case each year as teams try and outbid each other for aging veterans who end up unable to match their past production.
Of course, value is always a bit subjective with production. Not all large contracts end up being bad contracts. The Arizona Cardinals paid a large sum for left tackle Jared Veldheer, and he’s been worth every penny so far this season. The same has been true for the Dolphins and Brandon Albert, though the success rate for contracts of that size isn’t particularly high.
