The Detroit Lions will likely be without wide receiver Calvin Johnson this week.

So it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that the stud receiver doesn’t have a great shot of playing in Week 6, according to the Detroit Free Press.
"Coach Jim Caldwell didn’t want to make his decision known this morning, but after Calvin Johnson missed his third straight practice because of a high ankle sprain today, it seems highly unlikely that the Pro Bowl receiver will play for the Detroit Lions on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings (1 p.m., Fox)."
It’s worth noting that Caldwell also said “anything’s possible” in regards to Johnson’s status.
Still, don’t expect to see No. 81 out there on Sunday.
The Lions need Johnson, one of the NFL’s best players, fully healthy for a playoff push and there’s little incentive in pushing their hobbled star out there and risking further injury.
Even without Johnson, the Lions have a good chance to improve to 4-2 on the young season, as they will face an inferior Vikings team. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET at TCF Bank Stadium.
The Lions selected Johnson with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft. He has caught 594 passes for 9,676 yards and 68 touchdowns throughout his illustrious eight-year career.
