There’s no denying Russell Westbrook’s skills on the court (even if Shaquille O’Neal feels the need to call him out) but the Oklahoma City Thunder guard may not be all that well versed in internet lingo.

More from NBA

As a professional athlete one would assume Russell Westbrook would spend a good amount of his travel time on the internet (and that still may be the case) but what the OKC Thunder All-Star doesn’t do is keep up on internet vocabulary.

One such term Russell Westbrook doesn’t know is ‘meme’ as the guard stated on Monday.

Westbrook is of course of of the most used NBA players in meme’s given his questionable fashion sense and unique facial expressions, so it’s a little shocking he’s not aware of what a meme is.

For those of you who are like Westbrook and aren’t sure of the definition, Wikipedia refers to it as the following:

"An activity, concept, catchphrase or piece of media which spreads, often as mimicry, from person to person via the Internet."

Perhaps Russell Westbrook is understandably more concerned about the status of his team after Kevin Durant was diagnosed with a foot fracture on Sunday morning, an injury that will keeping the reigning NBA MVP sidelined for two months (and possibly even more).

The most shocking part of Russell Westbrook not understanding the definition of a meme is the fact that I can easily picture Westbrook sitting on his computer during a long plane ride creating meme’s with relative ease. I guess those overly thick nerd glasses he wears are nothing more than a front. Shame.
