Remember when stadiums would last thirty to forty years before they were replaced? Long gone are those days as the millions and billions of dollars at stake allow teams to build new venues much sooner than before, which is something the St. Louis Rams could benefit from in the very near future.
Currently playing in the Edward Jones Dome which was opened in 1995, the Rams could be moving to a new stadium eventually if law makers are able to get their way.
"The silence from local negotiators does not mean they haven’t been working feverishly to put a deal together. According to these sources, that silence could be broken with the completion of next month’s midterm elections. What local negotiators have been working on, and could be prepared to publicly discuss within the next month or so, is a proposal for an open-air stadium along the St. Louis riverfront between the new Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Lumiere Place Casino and Hotels."
As we’ve seen in just about every stadium negotiation before, it’s not exactly a simple process and there are likely to be lawsuits and roadblocks that would stand in the way if they were able to eventually agree on a deal. Still, new venues are absolutely vital to not only the success of a team but also revitalize stagnant areas of the city by injecting significant cash flow.
Currently all of the St. Louis Rams foes in the NFC West have a ‘new’ stadium as the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals are all playing in venues constructed within the past half decade.
Hopefully for the city of St. Louis and the Rams, they too will have the luxury of playing in a state-of-the-art stadium in the near future.
