Chicago Bears icon and NFL legend Mike Ditka rips current head coach Marc Trestman and the team for a lack of leadership.

Just days after the Chicago Bears were plastered at home by the Miami Dolphins, former head coach and franchise legend Mike Ditka ripped the organization, namely current head coach Marc Trestman.

Trestman of course is known to change up his captains on a weekly basis, a strategy that doesn’t jive with Mike Ditka who suggested doing so shows a lack of leadership on the part of Trestman and shows the Bears don’t have a true leader.

"That’s because you don’t have one. If you had one, he’d be the captain, and that would be it. That’s all there is to it. When you see a leader, you don’t have to look too much further. It is what it is. If he’s the guy, then he’s the guy they want to follow. I believe you should have a captain and a co-captain on offense and defense."

"The thing about being a captain, it’s something you can’t give somebody. It’s something they have to earn. And they earn it from the overall respect they get from everybody on that football team."

After the Chicago Bears’ loss in Week 7, there were reports of an extremely volatile locker room which allegedly included an outburst from wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

Obviously things don’t seem to be overly peachy in the Bears’ locker room, though Trestman suggested to local media that he didn’t see a problem with such. Obviously Mike Ditka disagrees and appears to question Trestman’s hold on his players.

As for the rotational captain policy, it’s certainly a little unique and does seem to devalue the title though it didn’t appear to be an issue before the Bears began to struggle.
