Lions vs. Falcons Final Score: Detroit Shocks Atlanta In London, 22-21
By Josh Hill
The Atlanta Falcons needed a win in London over the Detroit Lions on Sunday morning, but things got dramatic in the final minutes.
Atlanta Falcons fans watched their team implode last season and miss the playoffs, which is something the team is looking to avoid this year. So far, this season has been just as depressing as last year was, as the Falcons flushed a 21-0 lead at halftime to drop their sixth game of the season in embarrassing fashion.

It was a good start for the Falcons, who jumped out to a 21-0 lead at halftime but the Lions came roaring back in the second half to make things interesting. It was all Atlanta in the first half in London but Detroit came back with 19 unanswered points in the second half to come within striking distance of the Lions.
Golden Tate’s huge 59-yar touchdown reception in the third quarter marked the first time the Lions got into the endzone on the afternoon but also marked the start of the surge for the Lions. Mistakes plagued the Falcons in the second half as they allowed the Lions back into the game with 1:38 seconds left in the game.
One a drive that should have ended the game resulted in a holding penalty that stopped the clock and an incompletion on third down to give the Lions the ball back with a lot of time left. Golden Tate, with Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush both out, became the No. 1 target on the comeback drive for the Lions. Theo Riddick also hauled in a huge pass to get Detroit into Matt Prater field goal range with under a minute left to go.
Matt Prater came on and missed a field goal, but the Lions were called for a delay of game penalty before the kick was made. That left four-seconds on the clock for Prater to try again from 48-yards away who wouldn’t miss twice.
The Falcons couldn’t have mismanaged their final drive of the game any worse than they did, and the defense couldn’t have collapsed more depressingly then it did. Many believed the Falcons were going to bounce back in 2014 but they’re now 2-6 and it’s looking like Mike Smith is officially on the hot seat.
