Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin questions if he was given a fair opportunity with the Houston Rockets.

More from Houston Rockets

After Jeremy Lin lit up the bright lights of New York City, the Houston Rockets came calling and gave him a rather unique contract in hopes the New York Knicks wouldn’t match the deal.

Their wish was granted as Lin signed with the Rockets and looked to be their point guard of the future, or at least that was the hope. Things didn’t turn out that way though as Jeremy Lin was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason after losing his starting job to Patrick Beverly.

Lin, being the professional that he is, accepted the demotion though isn’t sure he was given a fair shake by the Houston Rockets.

It’s hard to suggest a player who was all but given a starting job only to lose such wasn’t given a fair chance. Simply put, Jeremy Lin’s skills didn’t exactly mesh well with the game of James Harden and Dwight Howard and his defense was extremely suspect. On the flip side, Beverley’s game was more complimentary to the starting unit and he brought solid defense to the starting five which is something the Houston Rockets needed.

Perhaps Jeremy Lin just wasn’t as good a fit as the Houston Rockets had hoped he would be, but the point guard not getting a fair shake seems questionable.

Now it appears everybody gets what they wanted as Patrick Beverly will handle the starting point guard duties for the Houston Rockets while Jeremy Lin will start for the Los Angeles Lakers who have pieces that will compliment his pick-and-roll style game.
