College Football: My Top 25 For Week 10, 2014

Things were tame until the night games rolled around, then the top 25 got turned on its ear again. Mine is no different.

Here is how mine looked last week.

Someone new cracked the top five this week, thanks to LSU beating Ole Miss.

1. Mississippi State: It may not have been pretty, but Kentucky is improving, and they were at home. There is no reason to demote the Bulldogs right now.

2. Florida State: Other teams keep getting picked off, and FSU has downed both Clemson and Notre Dame. If they don’t slip up, they have the schedule to cruise into the playoffs.

3. Auburn: They lost to the number one team, so they obviously have the best loss.

4. Alabama: Call me crazy, but I still think losing at Mississippi is better that losing at Florida State. Sorry, Notre Dame.

5. Notre Dame: The Irish sneak into the top five. Why? Because a loss in Tallahassee is better than losing on your own field.

6. Kansas State: They have the best home loss of the one loss teams.

7. Mississippi: There is no shame in losing in Death Valley at night.

8. Oregon: Well, they did beat Michigan State….

9. Michigan State: They are the class of the Big Ten(14), but what is that saying?

10. TCU: They might be the best team in the Big 12(10). The K-State-TCU game in two weeks will be HUGE.

11. Georgia: They haven’t missed a beat without Gurley, and the NCAA is in no hurry to reinstate him.

12. Ohio State: They struggled with Penn State, but it’s tough to win there during a Whiteout.

13. Arizona State: That was a nice win in Seattle on a very windy night.

14. Baylor: Their defense will likely let more than one more get away.

15. Nebraska: They keep sneaking around in the Big Ten(14), and could find themselves right in the playoff picture if they win out and Miami keeps playing well.

16. Utah: They become the latest to knock off USC with a touchdown in last ten seconds or less.

17. Arizona: The Pac 12 South might be the second best division in football. Unless you count the Big 12(10) as just one big division.

18. LSU: I still have questions about the offense, but the defense put on a show on Saturday.

19. Clemson: They have the two best losses, but they don’t really have a signature win.

20. West Virginia: They lost to two teams that were ranked in the top five when they played them. Now they have started to win those.

21. East Carolina: Teams will keep jumping the Pirates since the hard part of their schedule is behind them.

22. Duke: They are in the driver’s seat in the Coastal right now.

23. Oklahoma: Do I honestly think East Carolina and Duke could beat the Sooners right now? Yes.

24. UCLA: They didn’t look good against Cal or Colorado, but they still won. And those teams are better than anyone Marshall has on their schedule.

25. Missouri: If their offense could get anywhere near where they were last year, they could still win the SEC East.

Honorable mention: Marshall, Louisville, Stanford, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech
